Atlas Lounge : 100 % berber Morocco

Dining room

Located at the center of the ground floor of your rented riad, the Atlas Lounge measures 50 square meters and comprises two parts. The first, in extension of the kitchen : you can eat there when you do not prefer the Souss gallery or the plazza around the swimming pool. The table is made of wood, decorated with Berber motifs and with the logo of our villa for rent. It is covered with glass. Table mats are available to guests of our riad for rent.

The "furniture light" occupies the entire south wall. It is completely covered with tadelakt and received 18 spots. These illuminate from the inside the valuable objects which have been deposited there and which express essentially the soul of Morocco.

There are ancient Berber utensils - in particular a couscoussière -, terracotta, copper or tadelakt objects, testimonies of Jewish presence in the region of Agadir, Moroccan bottles and plateaus. Guests of our riad for rent can also consult books on cooking and wine. Thank you for replacing them where you took them !

The Berber warrior's painting

An extraordinary painting, signed by the artist of Agadir Omar Mourabih, adorns the east wall. He represents a Berber warrior whose hood has the shape of Africa, which means he has the consciousness of belonging to this continent. He looks attentively at the world. It thus says its opening on the outside.

His body has the shape of Morocco. If it is amputated of its legs, it is also removed the Sahara (ex-Spanish Sahara) that the Kingdom claims as integral part of Morocco.

Side living room fireplace

The second part of the Atlas Lounge is organized around a living room chimney in Bejmats of Fez whose coat is covered with red tadelakt and which extends to 8 meters of height, in order to guarantee the excellent draft.

We take place around the chimney Berber style: on dromedary skin poufs and cushions with motifs originating from Ouarzazate, but also on a large and wide sofa covered with red alcantara. Children's stools and a small copper-accented coffee table complete the layout.

A larger coffee table, including a mosaic of reversed marble, comes from Agadir. The carpet is also eminently Berber. It is a kilim of quality, located in the great tradition of Taznakt.

The imposing cherry-wood buffet is in Swiss baroque peasant style. He meets the copy of a painting of Majorelle representing a typical village of southern Morocco whose houses are still entirely adobe, as well as a small library containing books and guides on the regions of Agadir and Marrakech. A credenza of the same peasant baroque style faces the buffet.

Two shishas

The red tadelakt bench supports two shishas. These contribute to the decor but can also be used by guests of our rented riad. Those who wish to try their hand at these water pipes, which are very popular from Egypt to Morocco, are asked to smoke either in the Souss gallery or outside the riad.

Smoking shisha, however, is harmful, even more so than cigarettes. Moderation is necessary !
