Restocking
The Croco Park Agadir is the first park of its kind in Morocco. The animals shown are Nile crocodiles. Born in farming for two generations, young lizards were mainly transported from Djerba to Agadir. Both regions have a comparable climate.
The crocodiles that inhabit the Croco Park arrived in the Souss (Agadir Region) at the age of three years after being raised outdoors from an early age. The conditions are met to make them easily accliment to their new habitat.
In this sense, reviving the fascination aroused by the apparent Crocodilus Niloticus there are 200 million years on earth, the Croco Parc Agadir plays the same role that the restocking wildlife park Souss Massa. Its mission as it was set by its creators is to educate the public by facilitating access to knowledge about reptiles, through educational panels and the permanent presence of guides..
In Morocco until the early 20th century
The Nile crocodile has been present in Morocco until the beginning of last century, particularly in the cups in bordering Oued Draa, in the valley of the same name. It was unfortunately a victim of intensive hunting, especially being sought for its skin and its flesh. Partially man-eater, he also suffered from its reputation. He finally disappeared from the Kingdom because of the scarcity of available water points.
